You can reach the Downloads Folder by clicking here. In it are three folders of printer profiles, two for giclée printing on our Canon 8100 and new 8300 printers and the other for LightJet printing, that you can choose from to download for use in softproofing your files in Photoshop before sending them to us. Workshop registration forms are also here.
Printer Profile Targets contains two files to print out on you own printer if you’d like us to make a paper profile for use in your own printing, along with an Instructions file.
The sample.jpg file is a low resolution version of what we send out with our giclée paper samples-a helpful way to evaluate that print sample. It can also be used to aid in adjusting monitor brightness. Most modern flat panel monitors are set too bright at the factory. This may make them attractive for general use and web browsing, but they will be inaccurate in quality print preparation. Files prepared on a monitor set too bright will print darker than expected. Even if you use a hardware device to calibrate the monitor, it will not necessarily be accurate in adjusting brightness. You can use our sample print and this file to manually adjust your monitor to get as close a match in brightness as possible. Remember, for truly accurate print previewing, even the best monitors, accurately calibrated and adjusted, will only get you 90-95% of the way there. If you need better, you must go to an actual printed proof. That’s why, on giclée prints of 16x20 0r larger, we include at least one 5x7 proof prior to the final print, if you’d like to see it. Of course 90% can be a darn good print, and that is in the realm of a good monitor to soft proof, so you may well be satisfied with that and forego the printed proof if time is a factor. The choice is yours.
